Our club is a non-profit organization. We are based out of
Shippensburg University, Heiges Field House’s Raider wrestling room. We are a
USA Wrestling sanctioned club and compete in events through The Pennsylvania
Amateur Wrestling Federation and USA Wrestling’s National events.
Club purpose: Promote wrestling for the benefit of
our communities and the State of Pa. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for
individuals to learn practice and compete in the International styles of
wrestling. We provide off-season training to the athletes who wish to take
their Folkstyle wrestling to the next level.
Why wrestle Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling:
You will be instructed on techniques that will make you better in tough matches
and give you an edge over the competition. Greco-Roman wrestling helps athletes
become better upper-body wrestlers, and develops an ability to score big points
under pressure. Greco strengthens a wrestler’s defense, and gives better mat
awareness. Freestyle helps a wrestler open up their offense on the feet,
wrestle in a more fluid manner, the ability to dominate in scramble positions,
and have more confidence in your technique. An average of 70 percent of
wrestlers on the podium at The PIAA State Tournament train and compete in
Freestyle and Greco wrestling.
Registration will be on Tuesday,
March 22, 2011, at 6:00 PM in the wrestling room, located on the second floor
of Heiges Field House.
We will have an information session
at 6:30 PM.
